Hal Collums has been my GC of choice in New Orleans for the past 10 years. His eye for detail, impeccably gorgeous work and comprehensive knowledge of historical renovation is unequaled in my experience as a designer. I have also hired Hal to work with me in the Bahamas.

Especially impressive is Hal’s ability to navigate and solve any challenging construction conundrum I bring to him or solve any unforeseen problems that arise (this happens often with old homes and high-end clients). He seems to shine even more brightly when he has a puzzle to solve, and always solves it brilliantly and creatively.

Even under the most challenging time frame or circumstances.

He continually pulls the rabbit out of the hat for me, and goes above and beyond to deliver something that surpasses his very tough criteria and mine.

The integrity that Hal brings to every job speaks for itself.

If only I had Hal Collums Construction everywhere in the world that I work…

My wife and I decided we wanted custom bookshelves that incorporated the fireplace with a build-in-entertainment center cleverly concealing the electronics. After reviewing some of [Hal Collums' companies] prior work and its huge facilities we decided to give them a try. From the very beginning the design team met with us on multiple occasions to give ideas and hone in on what would work for us using computer aided design and automated millwork tools. The automated router made moldings to the level of a European Artesian. The company is big with a lot of workers but what impressed us was the owner had a hands on approach through each stage of our project to make sure we were satisfied. The final results display quality and attention to detail. We will be back!

Our job involved partitioning off the end of a long living room in order to create a third bedroom for our 14 yr old son in our downtown condo. For re-sale we were concerned that a bedroom might not be as attractive to buyers as a library or study. For that reason, we hired [Hal Collums' companies] to design and construct [and install] a book-shelf wall that opens to a small room. The interior of the room has a wood-paneled wall backing the bookcase. The wall was carefully engineered to assure smooth operation and impeccably finished to resemble fine furniture. We are completely satisfied with the workmanship…. Very good customer service.

Hal Collums Construction executed the extensive renovation of our center hall cottage, which included custom-made cabinetry/furniture. We are very pleased with the craftsmanship and quality of the work. Our home has been included in a neighborhood home tour as well as being featured in the Inside Out real estate section of the Times Picayune. The professionalism and customer-responsiveness of the Collums staff and crew were exceptional and minor remedial items were promptly addressed after we moved into our home.

A picture says a thousand words…take a look at our renovation on sister website Central City Millworks “1225 First Street”. It has been a pleasure working with the Hal Collums ‘family’ of specialists during the extensive 4 year historic restoration of our 7,000 sq. foot home in the Garden District. They have gone above and beyond to bring this Victorian Jewel back to life; and we could not have done it without them.

I have known Hal and his family both first professionally, then personally, for nearly 15 years. Hal has guided my wife and I in making great choices in renovation projects with his honest and accurate understanding of what a project will really cost. I have also had the opportunity to tour a number of major Colllums Construction projects, both in completion and in progress and am always impressed by the attention to detail no matter the level of renovation. I wouldn’t consider any contractor other than Hal Collums and his family should we be fortunate enough to renovate another New Orleans property.

Collums Construction renovated our home at One River Place. The work was extensive and detailed. The crew did an outstanding job and the work was done in the time allocated and within budget. After that job was complete Collums Construction built a commercial building for us that we are very pleased with the work and the total cost of the job. Thanks to the staff and crew but also to Hal for seeing that we got the most for our money and working so well with the designer and architect.
